We are a small group of volunteers who meet up every Wednesday evening from 6.30pm to feed the homeless and those in need.
The kitchen started as a short term project in November 2015 with its last night being our Christmas dinner on 22nd December, though a few of us decided we wanted to carry it on. We have grown from strength to strength with the local council and many businesses backing us, not to forget the community who volunteer and donate goods, without them we wouldn’t be able to do what we do.
We originally started on a Tuesday night, but in order that our homeless get something warm 5 nights a week we decided to move to a Wednesday night instead. Even now we are still seeing new faces as word spreads!
The main aim of the night is to provide a hot meal, something we take for granted but to many is a lifesaver quite literally! Thanks to donations we are able to provide food parcels to takeaway, toiletries, tents, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, warm clothes etc, all of which is very much appreciated.
Hi, are you open at the moment and do you give coats out ?

The shop isn’t, the soup kitchen is, though we have to put a hold on donations at present due to lack of space

Hi there,
Are you currently in any need of volunteers? I know it’s a complicated time with corona but I have been recently furloughed and I’m interested in doing some volunteering with my time and helping out where I can! I live in the Mansfield area too which helps!
Let me know!

Hi Laura, thanks for getting in touch, unfortunately we aren’t looking for volunteers at this time, we are running a takeaway service at present so there’s not much to do, but when we are back to normal and people are eating inside again we just don’t have the space for too many people, we’ve tried having one more person but they just end up twiddling their thumbs and people are falling over each other as it’s only a tiny space.
